Progressive Safety Program

Big E Drilling has a proactive safety program promoting a vital interest in maintaining a safe and efficient work place for our employees.

Regularly scheduled safety meetings play an important role in providing a proper balance of safety and operations.

• The Pusher begins each tour with a Pre-tour Safety Meeting with the crew to discuss safe working procedures for the work activities on their tour.
• Safety meetings are held before each major job change or when working with other service contractors.

Regularly scheduled and spontaneous safety inspections help us maintain a proper safe environment and efficient workplace for our employees.

• Each hand makes a Pre-tour Safety inspection of his work area before he begins his tour.
• The Pusher makes a Weekly Safety / Environment Inspection of his rig.
• The Pusher will make a Pre-spud Safety Inspection after rigging up the rig.
• Detailed Rig Safety Inspections are conducted by the Safety Manager and Drilling Manager.

 

Specialized rig safety equipment to provide safer and more efficient operations. Various rigs are equipped with ST-80s, Top Drives, Custom designed mud tanks, and Rig walking systems.

Big E Drilling has a stringent substance and alcohol abuse program that prohibits the possession or use of intoxicants, including alcohol, on any Big E Drilling location. We maintain a constant vigilance with a variation of drug testing and screening. Our drug testing / screening program includes pre-employment, random, and post-accident. Multiple drug screens are given to the employees during their hitch. Our program is aimed at the prevention of illegal non-prescription drugs, abuses of prescription drugs and alcohol. 

Our Management team makes frequent visits to evaluate the status and progress of our program.

The Pushers, Drillers and rig employees have been certified in First Aid and CPR.

The Pushers and Drillers have been certified in Well Control.

Rig employees working in H2S environments have been trained in H2S.

Rig employees have been certified in Forklift Operation.

Rig employees receive BOP training.
